Wow, has it been a long time since I visited here (nitpickers.com). I can't believe I remembered my username/password! Anyways, I'm wondering if there's any way to know exactly how long it's been. In other words, when was my last comment on a nitpick?

And if there is an introduce yourself forum, I must've missed it. So I'll let you know a little bit about how I use the site: I generally don't make nitpicks, I contest them. Or I offer a rebuttal to someone else's contest. Here's hoping that I can actually have some votes this time...

According to the Nitpickers.com FAQ, 3 posted nitpicks will entitle you to 3 daily votes; increasing as nitpicks:(daily votes) = 10:15; 15:30; 20:50.  In order to submit nitpicks and get them approved to earn those votes, you will need a working nitpickers.com website: there isn't one.  (See several Topics in these forums for more details.)

However, it's my opinion that can just post your Comments on Nitpicks here and see how others respond.

Well, I just assumed that, because the site still exists and accepted my login, that it was still functional. It even told me that, after moderation, my comments would be added. After that, it hasn't let me put in another, however.

Anyways, where would I go to make comments about a particular nitpick. I'd create a thread called "comments on nitpicks", putting the nitpick url on the first line of each post, if no such place exists.

PS Any chance they'll ever change the rules so that people who have made (and had accepted) a large number of comments can get votes? If not, I'm going to have to go down the route of nitpicking something, then coming back and refuting it in my comments. Because, unless it's an editing mistake (and even sometimes then), I always have a refutation.

A valid assumption.  Unfortunately, the new owner, Wastech, managed to badly break nitpickers.com and hasn't bothered to fix it.  He hasn't even put up an "Out of order" sign.

In the olden days, there were two main threads here in the Nitpickers.com forums at moviechatter.com : "Discussion of Submitted Nitpicks ##" and "Discussion of Submitted Comments ##".  Those addressed items in the submission / voting queues at nitpickers.com.  Since those submission queues no longer exist as such, I'd suggest just posting to either of those threads for now.  (Go to the first post in a Topic and select "Reply"; your post will appear with one indentation at the end of the list.)  A new post will promote the thread to the top of the list of topics and users should see them upon logging in.  Or, if you want, create a New Topic and call it something topical: "Discussion of Nitpicks and Comments" (without meaningless reference to "submitted") or your own "Comments on Nitpicks 01" (add a "1" or "01" so it will be easier to sort or keep track of things if traffic increases to the point of "Comments ... 02", ..., "... 21", ... etc.).

I've recently tried to discuss some movies and nitpicks but most of the chatter at moviechatter.com seems to be in "General Chat" about politics, religion and football.

Although some consider this time of year to be the season of hope, I don't think that any former nitpickers here (posting to moviechatter.com) expect nitpickers.com to be resurrected anytime soon ... or ever.

There are other movie nitpick websites: imdb.com, of course, has "goofs".  http://www.moviemistakes.com accepts submissions and corrections.  http://www.tv.com has discussion forums about TV mistakes.  continuitycorner.com no longer exists?

Do we have any contact information for our lovely malefactor? (Get it, opposite of benefactor?) If so, then we might be able to use some legal means to get the copyrighted information away from him and into the public domain.

Basically, you send a registered letter saying that you are going to break they're copyright, and give them 30 days to respond, or else they are giving tacit approval for your actions.

Of course, once we release the rights, there doesn't sound like there'd be anyone willing to resurrect the site. Unfortunately, with the economic downturn, I don't have the money to even send the registered letter, let alone set up a new webserver. If I did it, I'd probably just put it on a forum, with moderation.

Apparently, there's been a different glitch affecting moviechatter.com and these forums.  Several better informed more active users are able to READ your posts in Nitpickers.com forums but cannot "Reply" (bottom left link) or post here.  However, they are still discussing issues and problems in the General > General Chat forums.  Start at this link and read a bit.

If you normally don't see "General Chat" when you log in, check your Options > Boards > Subscribe/Hide settings.

If you post your questions and suggestions in the General Chat forums (or start a new Topic there), you'll get more replies.

Maybe that would be Wastech's excuse now, but he botched things up long before the economy crashed.
