I know this is going to have little effect, since most people who read this board already follow the rules. But after surveying the TV nitpick submissions and the votes on them, I was rather shocked. It seems like a lot of votes are made by people who haven't watched the show, haven't watched the series, or people who just aren't even paying attention or understanding the submission.
I know it can be frustrating to see so many TV nits and have so few peole who can actually vote on them, but it is vitally important that we not vote in incorrect TV nits, because we cannot refute them. If a TV nit goes in, it's there for good. The site will be worthless if it is filled with ridiculous non-nits that only turn people away. To have non-nits makes the site stupid, boring, and ultimately worthless.
Are you referring to nitpicks that are unintelligible, never happened in the show, are not really nitpicks, or what? Or all of these, maybe?
All of them. The "not really nitpicks" ones are the most insidious. I was thinking specifically of the Sex and the City and Nip/Tuck ones I posted in the other thread. There are plenty like that.
I think a refute function for TV nitpicks will eventually be added, it is just a matter of time. There is at least a comments feature presently, so the reader will still be able to judge validity based on those comments.

I agree. Eventually. But in the meantime, why not try to avoid cluttering up the DB with non-nits?
Also, these voters should be thinking more wisely. Although TV nitpick votes are not yet reviewed, they may be reviewed someday also. And maybe the votes cast right now will be judged at some point in the future. So all these people voting in non-nits may eventually get dinged for them.
